As we constantly get questions around what you can do with the free developer account on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform I've put together this document with the help of my colleagues from the SAP HANA Cloud Platform team. If something changes I'll keep this document up-to-date so that it reflects the most current state of what you can do with a free developer account.
A free developer account on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform is provided to you with a free and perpetual developer license which you accept when you create your free developer account. You can use such an account to try and test out the platform.
Compared to a productive (paid) account there are a few differences that are outlined in the following table:
Aspect | Comment |
Price and license | Free and perpetual account under a developer license You get the account for free and the account doesn't expire. The developer license allows you to use the SAP HANA Cloud Platform for non-productive usage. The pricing for the SAP HANA Cloud Platform is available at http://marketplace.saphana.com/hcp |
Productive and beta services With your developer account you have access to most of the productive services. But you also get early access to beta functionality, which isn't available for productive accounts. The account doesn’t offer any service level agreement with regards to the availability of the platform. | |
Account members | Only one member per account You can't add any additional members to your account |
1GB on shared HANA instance With your account you also get a HANA instance for free. Compared to a productive instance on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform there are a few differences
