SAP HANA Student Trial - Retrieving data from a schema database

$

0

Hi,

I created my first helloworld.xsjs file in SAP HANA trail version and was successfully able to retrieve data from DUMMY table.

Then I created a TEST1 table in NEO_45GGLHBRNEL4HTIE2H0ZR0LUY schema and inserted test values in this table. When  I tried to access the data in this TEST1 table through .xsjs file, I got an error as

Found the following errors: ===========================

InternalError: dberror(Connection.prepareStatement): 258 - insufficient privilege: Not authorized at ptime/query/checker/query_check.cc:2422 (line 12 position 0 in /p1873072661trial/hihanatrial/helloworld/helloworld.xsjs)

Could you please let me know how can I get access to this table from .xsjs file

The .xsjs code:

$.response.contentType = "text/html";

var output = "Hello World!<br><br>";

//Open a database connection

var conn = $.db.getConnection();

//var pstmt = conn.prepareStatement("insert into DEV_3NNM3EIKNP8VVHWQNM9CPLF1I.TEST values (1,'A')");

//var rs = pstmt.executeQuery();

//Prepare a simple SQL statement on the system table "DUMMY"

var pstmt1 = conn.prepareStatement("select * from NEO_45GGLHBRNEL4HTIE2H0ZR0LUY.TEST1");

//Execute the query

var rs = pstmt1.executeQuery();

//Check the query result

if (!rs.next()) {

    //Something went wrong: Return an error

    $.response.setBody("Failed to retrieve data");

    $.response.status = $.net.http.INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR;

} else {

    //All went fine: Return the Query result

    output = output + "This is the response from my SQL: " + rs.getString(1);

}

//Close the database connection

rs.close();

pstmt.close();

conn.close();

//Return the HTML response.

$.response.setBody(output);

Thanks,

Krishna

Release Notes for SAP HANA Cloud Platform - 03 December 2015

FunctionType of ChangeDescription
Core

New

You can now directly translate the properties files of HTML5 applications. The elimination of the separate file conversion steps is made possible by the integration of SAP Translation Hub with the Git repository of SAP HANA Cloud Platform. For more information on the integrated translation workflow, see Translation Workflow with SAP Translation Hub. You can also watch the Translating HTML5 Apps video to see the translation workflow in action.
Cloud ConnectorNewSAP HANA Cloud Connector 2.7.0 is released.

Features:

  • The system certificate of the Cloud connector used to have two roles: the first one for acting as a client certificate to establish mutual trust, and the second one for acting as a certificate authority (CA) for short-living certificates when using principal propagation. A new CA certificate is introduced, which leads to the separation of the two roles into different certificates. The system certificate keeps the client certificate role, while the CA certificate contains the CA role. For more information, see  Initial Configuration, and Setting Up Trust.
  • As an alternative to the local CA certificate, the Cloud connector now allows to delegate the creation of the short-living certificates to Secure Login Server (SLS). For more information, see Secure Login Client Installation.
  • The authentication configuration has been improved. When the local user database for the administration UI access is used, the user name can be configured. When the LDAP-based user database is used, the access check role can be configured if sccadmin role cannot be used. For more information, see Managing Accounts, Configuring Access Control, and Using LDAP for Authentication.
  • The trust store for HTTPS connectivity to backend systems can be set by uploading the trusted certificates. For more information, see Configuring the Cloud Connector for HTTP.
  • It is now possible to configure which TLS ciphers shall be allowed for the access to the administration UI. For more information, see Recommendations for Secure Setup.
  • A security status screen is showing at a glance what security configurations have already been done and which are still missing. For more information, see Recommendations for Secure Setup.
  • Description fields are now added in the configuration tabs for account fields, exposed systems, and resources. These description fields allow users to add descriptions for the corresponding fields, systems, and resources.

Bugfixes:

  • An OutOfMemoryError has been addressed that occurred under high load during an exchange of large documents.
  • During access, the exposed host can now be checked regardless of the case of the host's letters. For example, the host can be in uppercase in the on-premise system and in lowercase in the SAP HANA Cloud Platform destination.
Connectivity ServiceNewUser propagation from SAP HANA XS applications to on-premise systems via SAP HANA Cloud connector is already supported. For more information about the user propagation, see Principal Propagation.
CockpitNewA new global account is introduced in the cockpit that corresponds to a customer who buys an account for deploying applications on the platform. For that purpose a new navigation level at the top hierarchy level is implemented to show an overview of all accounts assigned to the global account.  This allows the cockpit users to view the number of Java applications deployed for each account, the number of account members, the Java quota used by the account, and attributes like beta and extension. This feature is not available in the trial environment. For more information, see Account Types, Managing Accounts and Quota, and Cockpit.
CockpitNewIt is now possible to enter comments for account members. These are visible to all members and allow you to keep track of the reasons for membership, tasks or any other remarks. For more information, see Assigning Members to Accounts.
CockpitEnhancementThe history of the members table now shows the full history of changes without any limitations for the period. For more information about how to work with the members table, see Assigning Members to Accounts.
Gamification ServiceEnhancementThe workbench rule editor now provides support for defining scheduled rules based on interval or cron expressions. For more information about how to create rules, see Creating Rules.
Internet of Things ServiceEnhancement

When creating a new message type in the cockpit for the Internet of Things services, you can sort message fields by using drag and drop. Furthermore, there is a full Unicode support for message types, device types and devices.

The manual configuration step to adapt the „Authentication Configuration“ for MMS in order to enable the Push as well as the OData APIs is not needed anymore. Moreover, date message fields now can be sent in Unix time format rather than only in ISO 8601 format.

Cloud ConnectorBugfix

SAP HANA Cloud connector 2.5.2 is released. Fixes:

  • If you invoked an HTTP service that had previously contained URL-encoded parts, those parts used to be replaced with their decoded characters. For Java scenarios, this used to happen for on-demand to on-premise connectivity (on the cloud side) when using HTTP proxy instead of Java destination runtime. For SAP HANA XS scenarios, this used to happen on every HTTP call of that type. This wrong behavior no longer occurs.
  • If the connection to a cloud account failed, the execution of all successive attempts to establish this connection used to fail, and thus the connection could not be created even if the cause for the failure had been eliminated. This wrong behavior no longer occurs.
  • The high-availability setup with LDAP user authentication is now improved, and thus you no longer need to use workarounds with additional dummy users.

Creating an HTTP destination with OAuth2SAMLBearerAssertion authentication

$

Hi All,

I'm trying to create an HTTP destination with OAuth2SAMLBearerAssertion authentication.

However, I'm at a loss as where to put the secret/private key. It should be part of the call to the token service so must be populated somewhere. But where? I'm guessing if I create a destination via a file, there is some parameter that I could set that should contain this key, but I'm not sure what it is - certainly there is nowhere on the HCP cockpit screen that I can use.

Downloading an existing destination that works, it looks like there is an additional "Password" parameter, but when I populate that with the private key, my connection still doesn't work.

Is there a special format that this private key must be entered into the destination file?

Many thanks for you help!

Cheers,

Chris

Today this is what I see:

2.PNG

Basically, nothing is showing. How can I get this resolved so that I see what is in the first screenshot again? I have full access to our HCP account, SuccessFactors provisioning, the SuccessFactors instance, etc. I am an experienced SuccessFactors consultant and have been working with HCP for about 6 months.

I apologize if this has been posted already - if it has been please point me in the direction of the post.

Hello Every one,

    I'm using trail cloud account to develop a validation exit while creating CURD operations on oData Model. I'm getting following error messages, could you please help me when you get a  chance.

" Service exception: insufficient privilege.exception 1: no.71000258 (ptime/query/checker/query_check.cc:2422) Not authorized NO exception throw location recorded. Stack generation suppressed. "

I was able to perform READ and CREATE operations without validation exits. If i use procedure in service, it's throwing error message. I got the same message while testing the service using POSTMAN.

I have tested procedure by writing a wrapper which is working fine. Thanks alot for all your help!

HCP: "Error in WebSocket Connection to Backend"

$

Hello All,

I am using HANA trail account for learning purpose. However, I am getting error messages "error in WebSocket Connection to backend hcp" and "WebSocket connection for debugging is closed" when the application is launched.

The overall health of my instance says it is "Crtical". And in the Metrics Details the Metric "HANA XS Availability" is critical. Because of this, my application is not working correctly.

The same issue persists even when the instance is deleted and a new one is created.

Can anyone guide me on how to resolve this issue?

Regards,

Anoop.

Restricted User executing a Analytic View

$

We have developed Analytical views, Analytical Privilege and Analytic Procedure.

The Analytic Privilege is connected an Analytic View and the data restriction is via the Analytic Procedure.

The filter for data restriction is obtained from the OLTP schema as String. and that is populated into the VAR_FILTER object.

VAR_TABLE = APPLY_FILTER("_SYS_BIC"."MY_SCHEMA.MY_PACKAGE/MY_ANALYTIC_VIEW", :VAR_FILTER);

The above line of code is in the Analytic procedure.

We have created a restricted user and granted him the following roles/privileges

GRANT SELECT  ON SCHEMA _SYS_BI   TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT EXECUTE ON SCHEMA _SYS_BI   TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT SELECT  ON SCHEMA _SYS_BIC  TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT EXECUTE ON SCHEMA _SYS_BIC  TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT EXECUTE ON REPOSITORY_REST  TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT RESTRICTED_USER_ODBC_ACCESS TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT RESTRICTED_USER_JDBC_ACCESS TO RESTRICTED_USER;

GRANT SELECT and EXECUTE on the data schema is also provided to the user.

Access to the Analytic Privilege is also provided to the user.

When we execute the APPLY_FILTER command with the view as the object to filter as a restricted user results in the following error.

SAP DBTech JDBC: [258]: insufficient privilege: [2950] user is not authorized

If we replace the view to a table in the APPLY FILTER condition, it does not throw any error and works fine.

If we grant additional privilege such as MODELLING or CONTENT_ADMIN, then the filtering does not happen, and all records are shown.

Please note that, the execution is on HANA Studio as the restricted user.

Do we need to give any special privilege for a restricted user to execute the following command in a Analytic Procedure ?

Currency conversion on SAP HANA trial

Hello all,

I'm facing the following problem when creating a calculated column.

After importing the sample application SHINE on my SAP HANA database, the currency tables are now displayed under _SYS_BIC schema. Later on, I tried to create a calculated column on my custom calculation view using those currency tables, in order to display my result in different currencies. The SAP HANA can recognise the schema _SYS_BIC as a currency schema, but the currency tables cannot be found.

Here's my scenario:

Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 10.47.58 am.png

currency schema _SYS_BIC is available

The problem:

Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 10.48.24 am.png

But, all currency configuration exists.

Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 11.00.44 am.png

Is there any restriction about currency configuration on SAP HANA trial, or some configuration that should be performed before use currency conversion ?

Thanks in advanced

ABAP communication layer is not configured properly. This might be caused by missing Microsoft Runtime DLLs VS2010. Consult the installation guide or download page for further details on how to install this component.

Hi Guys,

I have recently started working on the HANA Cloud platform. In the process I was trying to install the HANA Cloud connector 2.0. The installation is giving error related to the prerequisites. I have already installed the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (X64) but I am getting the error that the required Microsoft VS package is not installed.

Below is the error message:

I have also validated the java version and I don't see any issue in that.

I hope someone must have also faced similar issue and having a possible solution for it.

Thanks & Regards,

Elastic Scaling on HCP - How to create a simple Automatic Application Scaler on HANA Cloud Platform

It happens sometimes – unexpected load and your application starts to hiccup. Yes, sure, somebody should always be monitoring and operate it, but what if you want people focus on other tasks, while being at peace of mind that your cloud application is elastic?

So, let me describe in few easy steps how you can create your own automatic application horizontal scaling system, using a beautiful set of APIs made available courtesy of our HANA Cloud Platform team. Oh, what was that? You’re being impatient? Then scroll down and grab the code directly from GitHub as a Maven project, have a look at it and deploy it on your account. Good luck!

Now, for the rest of the people that are reading this, what we’re going to do is very simple: we shall create a tiny application that runs on HCP, monitors whatever app of your choice (given that it belongs to you and is deployed on HCP), takes a set of rules, runs them against your defined thresholds and decides whether action is needed for starting or stopping additional instances of the application.

An architectural sketch of the described application looks something like this:

architecture.png

Let’s go through each component.

The Front-end Management Console

We could design our app such that we need to specify which application to scale from the front-end. Of course, it’s up to you to decide what the front-end will be actually doing, as one could imagine that the elastic scaler would look much like a service rather than as an app, but for starters we’re just fine.

The UI we’re creating will use JQuery and Twitter Bootstrap libraries and will be very simple: 2 fields for specifying the account and application to scale and a number of controls for updating the scaler’s back-end and starting / stopping the monitoring. The UI looks like in the picture below, and on GitHub you’ll find the sources for the needed HTML and JS files that will go under the webapp folder.

The Back-end

We’re going to need at least a servlet for our scaler. This servlet will get the front-end requests and will talk directly to the Scaling Setup Manager, the heart of our application. We’ve designed the ScaleCentral class as a singleton, and holds data about the application being monitored while acting as a central proxy for the scaling actions and commands.

The rest of the mechanism works like described in the picture. For triggering various actions, we use HTTP request parameters. Thus, we’ll use a parameter named action that may take the following values:

  • - “query" – this value should actually always be set for the initial back-end call, because it sets the account and application that will be monitored (we enforce this from the front-end). Therefore, the following parameters should also be set: accountName and applicationName.
  • - “start” – this value indicates that the monitoring of the specified application starts. A different thread is started that checks every 5 seconds (timer can be changed) if the application needs to be scaled up or down or simply run as it is. During the monitoring, we’re constantly pinging (one could also use websockets) to back-end to get the status of the application in order to display it on our web-page (MonitorServlet).
  • - “stop” – this value indicates that the monitoring will stop.
  • - “startApp” – this value indicates that a new process will be started for the application.
  • - “stopApp” – this value indicates that a process will be stopped for the application.

There are a few interesting aspects that I’d like to mention further. One refers to the rule engine. The rule engine here is very rudimentary, but it does the job, at least for the applications that we’ve tested. The rule engine always checks whether scaling up or scaling down is possible. The monitored parameters for which it performs the checks and their thresholds (for down and up-scaling respectively) are defined in the params.properties file and they are used in conjunction (logical AND). For instance,

cpu_utilization=25,50

means that the rule engine will check the metric named cpu_utilization and it will return true for the down-scaling rule if the value is below 25 and true for the up-scaling rule if the value is above 50.

But where does the rule engine gets the values of these parameters from? Ok, now comes the second point I was looking to discuss.

The HANA Cloud Platform APIs

First, in order to get the current application metrics, we are using the Monitoring API (https://api.hana.ondemand.com/monitoring/v1/documentation). This API is one of the platform-embedded APIs that prove to be very helpful for developers. It is REST-based and not only that it brings information about the status and metric details about an application and its processes, but it also does it for all the running applications without affecting their performance. Pretty neat, right?

And speaking of platform APIs. Whenever we need to scale up or down the monitored application, it means that we need to trigger an action like process start or process stop. For that we’re using an API that allows to get information about an application, start, stop its processes (although you could do several things more, like deploying, un-deploying or changing applications), namely the Lifecycle Management API (https://api.hana.ondemand.com/lifecycle/v1/documentation).

The Code

The code is available on GitHub and pretty much speaks for itself, as it is not very complicated. You can use it as you wish, play around with it, enrich it, etc.

My hope is that I’ve shown you how easy it is to create a very lightweight elastic scaler for HCP applications using not too much code with the help of the platform-embedded APIs.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the topic!

Enjoy!

Subscribed Applications Hana Cloud Portal Widgets

Hello,

We are currently having problems trying to configure an Hana Cloud Portal Site in the following scenario:

  • HCP Account A:
    • Contains a Multi Tenant Java Application (with declared hana cloud portal widgets)

  • HCP Account B:
    • Subscribes the Java Application on Account A.

We need to create a Hana Cloud Portal Site in the Account B. The content of the site should be based on the widgets declared in the subscribed Java Application.

Creating this site in the Account A is not a problem as the widgets are available when editing pages.

Is this a limitation in the subscription model or is there any way we can solve this problem?

For now the only solution we have is to deploy the java application directly on the HCP Account B.

Thank you in advance

Best Regards

How do we know when a server change is made, and (generally) what the change was.

Hi:

   Parts of my Java application stopped working (I think this week.)

   Most of the app continued without problem. But I had some old code which used to function before but stopped working.

     factory  = javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory.newInstance();

     try {

          transformer = factory.newTransformer(new SteamSource(stylesheet));

          transformer.transform(source,new StreamResult(writer));

      } catch (Exception e) {}

    I need no assistance with this issue. But my question is do you have a type of maintenance plan whereby I would have some idea if you are making a change which may affect me?

    I would guess that you added / subtracted a jar file with a different implementation of javax.xml.transform?

** I switched to jacabi which you would not use thus is safe for me from any changes on your side. So that is fixed and could not occur again. I do not care about a fix. I am concerned with what we would do to prevent this in the future.
