privileges to run odata service

$

Hello all,

I created simple .xsodata file to expose content of the table and experience some issues with privileges.

I can browse content of the below URL without no issue:

https://s2hanaxs.hanatrial.ondemand.com/<...>/task.xsodata

This one works fine as well:

https://s2hanaxs.hanatrial.ondemand.com/<...>/task.xsodata/$metadata

However, if I try to get to the element level like this:

https://s2hanaxs.hanatrial.ondemand.com/<...>/task.xsodata/Task/

I receive: Service exception: insufficient privilege

Does anyone know what privileges should be assigned to user and how can this be done?

Thansk,
Bakhtiyar

$

Hi all,

we have one account on HCP. We have deployed a servlet application on HCP. We also have Java application as batch job to call the servlet.

we need to do this because we want to be loosely coupled.

How can we call our servlet from our Java application on HCP?

Do we have to create destination for the servlet?  Is this the only way to call servlet from our Java pp?

Best regards

Release Notes for SAP HANA Cloud Platform - 14 January 2016

FunctionType of ChangeDescription
Persistence ServiceNew

Multiple SAP HANA databases can be hosted on a single SAP HANA system when the support for multitenant database container (MDC) is enabled for the SAP HANA databases (beta). Creating a tenant database is available on the trial landscape too.

A tenant database runs for 12 hours and shuts down at the end of the period to free resources. A tenant database that is not used for 30 days is automatically deleted.

A blog post describes the procedure for creating and testing a tenant database by using the SAP HANA Interactive Education example on a trial landscape. For more information, seeSAP HANA Multitenant Database Containers (MDC) Scenarios Now on Trial Landscape.

Business ServicesNewHybris-as-a-Service (YaaS) can be used for building business services that run on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Those services can then be used in cloud applications which again can run on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. For more information, seeBusiness Services with YaaS.
Internet of ThingsNewMMS can be configured to forward messages to another HTTP endpoint. For more information, see Message Forwarding (HTTP).
CockpitEnhancementThe Services page in the cockpit shows services grouped and ordered by category.
CockpitEnhancementHANA Instances renamed to Database Systems after a redesign and simplification. The page lists all database systems, including database name, version and state. For information on working with Database Systems, seePersistence Service.
Software LogisticsEnhancementSAP HANA components can be installed and updated on multitenant-enabled SAP HANA instances. Furthermore, multitenant-enabled SAP HANA instances can be updated. For more information, see Installing SAP HANA Components and Updating SAP HANA Instances.
Git ServiceEnhancementFully documented creation and management of Git repositories from the cockpit. For more information, seeGit Service.
Connectivity Service, CockpitEnhancementConnectivity of HTTP destinations of Proxy Type=OnPremise can be checked with the Check Connection button in the cockpit's Destinations editor. The check works only with Cloud connector, version 2.7.1 or later.
SAP HANAEnhancementSAP HANA revision 102.03 is productively available. For more information, seeSAP Note 2021789 - SAP HANA Revision and Maintenance Strategy.
Internet of ThingsEnhancementThe OData interface for MMS supports extended filter options (neq, lt, le, gt, ge, and, or). For more information, see Message Consumption.

In addition, the OData entity properties are typed according to the respective database table column. For RDMS, a device supports up to 32 custom attributes. For example, you can use a custom attribute to store things like serial number, MAC or IP address of a device. For more information, see Device.

Cloud ConnectorBugfixVersion 2.7.1 of SAP HANA Cloud Connector.

Fixes:

  • When a shadow is upgraded from an older version, the system certificate stays correctly available. The system certificate used to get lost during the upgrade when connecting to the master instance, which was not yet upgraded. As a result, the system certificate could be restored only with a workaround.
  • The restart mechanism works properly in all environments. On some Linux systems, the restart used to not work as expected.
  • Changes needed to support the correct E2E destination check.

Release Notes for SAP HANA Cloud Platform - 03 December 2015

FunctionType of ChangeDescription
Core

New

You can now directly translate the properties files of HTML5 applications. The elimination of the separate file conversion steps is made possible by the integration of SAP Translation Hub with the Git repository of SAP HANA Cloud Platform. For more information on the integrated translation workflow, see Translation Workflow with SAP Translation Hub. You can also watch the Translating HTML5 Apps video to see the translation workflow in action.
Cloud ConnectorNewSAP HANA Cloud Connector 2.7.0 is released.

Features:

  • The system certificate of the Cloud connector used to have two roles: the first one for acting as a client certificate to establish mutual trust, and the second one for acting as a certificate authority (CA) for short-living certificates when using principal propagation. A new CA certificate is introduced, which leads to the separation of the two roles into different certificates. The system certificate keeps the client certificate role, while the CA certificate contains the CA role. For more information, see  Initial Configuration, and Setting Up Trust .
  • As an alternative to the local CA certificate, the Cloud connector now allows to delegate the creation of the short-living certificates to Secure Login Server (SLS). For more information, see Secure Login Client Installation .
  • The authentication configuration has been improved. When the local user database for the administration UI access is used, the user name can be configured. When the LDAP-based user database is used, the access check role can be configured if sccadmin role cannot be used. For more information, see Managing Accounts, Configuring Access Control, and Using LDAP for Authentication .
  • The trust store for HTTPS connectivity to backend systems can be set by uploading the trusted certificates. For more information, see Configuring the Cloud Connector for HTTP .
  • It is now possible to configure which TLS ciphers shall be allowed for the access to the administration UI. For more information, see Recommendations for Secure Setup .
  • A security status screen is showing at a glance what security configurations have already been done and which are still missing. For more information, see Recommendations for Secure Setup .
  • Description fields are now added in the configuration tabs for account fields, exposed systems, and resources. These description fields allow users to add descriptions for the corresponding fields, systems, and resources.

Bugfixes:

  • An OutOfMemoryError has been addressed that occurred under high load during an exchange of large documents.
  • During access, the exposed host can now be checked regardless of the case of the host's letters. For example, the host can be in uppercase in the on-premise system and in lowercase in the SAP HANA Cloud Platform destination.
Connectivity ServiceNewUser propagation from SAP HANA XS applications to on-premise systems via SAP HANA Cloud connector is already supported. For more information about the user propagation, see Principal Propagation.
CockpitNewA new global account is introduced in the cockpit that corresponds to a customer who buys an account for deploying applications on the platform. For that purpose a new navigation level at the top hierarchy level is implemented to show an overview of all accounts assigned to the global account.  This allows the cockpit users to view the number of Java applications deployed for each account, the number of account members, the Java quota used by the account, and attributes like beta and extension. This feature is not available in the trial environment. For more information, see Account Types, Managing Accounts and Quota, andCockpit.
CockpitNewIt is now possible to enter comments for account members. These are visible to all members and allow you to keep track of the reasons for membership, tasks or any other remarks. For more information, see Assigning Members to Accounts.
CockpitEnhancementThe history of the members table now shows the full history of changes without any limitations for the period. For more information about how to work with the members table, see Assigning Members to Accounts.
Gamification ServiceEnhancementThe workbench rule editor now provides support for defining scheduled rules based on interval or cron expressions. For more information about how to create rules, see Creating Rules.
Internet of Things ServiceEnhancement

When creating a new message type in the cockpit for the Internet of Things services, you can sort message fields by using drag and drop. Furthermore, there is a full Unicode support for message types, device types and devices.

The manual configuration step to adapt the „Authentication Configuration“ for MMS in order to enable the Push as well as the OData APIs is not needed anymore. Moreover, date message fieldsnow can be sent in Unix time format rather than only in ISO 8601 format.

  • When trying to restart the Cloud connector or to delete an account, the Cloud connector used to hang. This behavior no longer occurs.
  • If the Internet access from within the corporate network is protected by a proxy requiring authentication, the Cloud connector used to fail to establish connection to SAP HANA Cloud Platform with an error message, similar to "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Header value must not end with '\r' or '\n'". This behavior no longer occurs.

Release Notes for SAP HANA Cloud Platform - 9 April 2015

FunctionType of ChangeDescription
Persistence ServiceNew

You can now update your productive SAP HANA instances so that you always use the latest available version. You can update all installed software components to a higher version, or apply a single support package. For more information, seeUpdating SAP HANA Instances.

UI Theme DesignerNew

The UI theme designer is a browser-based tool for cross-theming scenarios. Use it to:

  • Apply your corporate branding and look to applications built with SAP UI technologies.
  • Easily build your corporate identity themes by modifying one of the theme templates provided by SAP. For example, you can change the color scheme, or add your company's logo.

The tool is targeted at different user groups, including developers, visual designers, and administrators. For more information, seeUI Theme Designer Guide.

Eclipse ToolsEnhancement

In the Eclipse IDE, you can now faster apply changes that you have made in your deployed application without uploading the entire set of files tо the cloud. For more information, seeDeploying on the Cloud from Eclipse IDE→ section "Next Steps".

User Management, CockpitEnhancement

In Cockpit → AuthorizationsUsers, you can now filter the groups displayed when you assign a user to groups, using parts of the group name or a regular expression. For more information about user assignments, seeManaging Roles.

Cloud ConnectorBugfix

SAP HANA Cloud connector 2.5.2 is released. Fixes:

  • If you invoked an HTTP service that had previously contained URL-encoded parts, those parts used to be replaced with their decoded characters. For Java scenarios, this used to happen for on-demand to on-premise connectivity (on the cloud side) when using HTTP proxy instead of Java destination runtime. For SAP HANA XS scenarios, this used to happen on every HTTP call of that type. This wrong behavior no longer occurs.
  • If the connection to a cloud account failed, the execution of all successive attempts to establish this connection used to fail, and thus the connection could not be created even if the cause for the failure had been eliminated. This wrong behavior no longer occurs.
  • The high-availability setup with LDAP user authentication is now improved, and thus you no longer need to use workarounds with additional dummy users.

Cloud ConnectorBugfix

SAP HANA Cloud connector 2.5.1 is released. Fixes:

  • The Connect/Disconnect operations in Account Dashboard now behave correctly.
  • After restarting the Cloud connector, both the principal propagation and the trust configuration work properly for existing sessions.
  • After restarting the Cloud connector or in case of failover, the Service Channels function is started automatically.
  • If there is a SAP JVM installed via RPM on Linux OS, the Cloud connector will prefer this SAP JVM to other available JVMs .
  • Previously, if an account was deleted in the Master instance, the deletion was propagated to the Shadow one, but the account configuration remained in the Shadow. This wrong behavior is now fixed.

Release Notes for SAP HANA Cloud Platform - 12 February 2015

SecurityBugfix

By default, the FORM and SAML2 login methods used to fall back to user name and password authentication (HTTP basic authentication) in case of failure of the trusted SAML identity provider. This default fallback is now removed. To preserve the behavior, in Authentication Configuration create for your application a custom login method, in which you select the User name and passwordoption. The change requires application restart. For more information, seeConfiguring Authentication for Your Application.

Release Notes for SAP HANA Cloud Platform - 29 January 2015

FunctionType of ChangeDescription
CockpitNew

Breadcrumbs show the full object hierarchy in the pattern:

Data CenterAccount<application><process>

Connectivity ServiceEnhancement

The interface com.sap.core.connectivity.api.configuration.ConnectivityConfiguration is extended with a new clearCache() method. It allows each application to clear its local cache to ensure that the next configuration will be taken from a central storage. The method also clears the configuration cache used by HTTP destinations. For more information, seeConnectivity Javadoc.

SAPUI5Enhancement

SAPUI5 distribution 1.26.3 for Java and HTML5 applications (including runtime 1.26.3 & documentation) has been released.

SAP HANAEnhancement

SAP HANA revision 91 (SPS 09) is now available.

  • In a production environment or planned Go-live in less than 6 weeks,we recommend that you stay on the current SAP HANA SPS 08 until the next SAP HANA Datacenter Service Point is reached.
  • In a non-production environment or planned initial system setup, you can update to the new SPS 09 via request to SAP HANA Cloud Platform operators.

For more information, see:SAP Note 2021789 - SAP HANA Revision and Maintenance Strategy

HTML5 ApplicationsEnhancement

Virtual roles are now available for HTML5 applications.

  • AccountAdministrator– account members with Administrator role.
  • AccountDeveloper– account members with Developer or Administrator role.
  • Everyone– all authenticated users of the configured identity provider.

You can map virtual roles to HTML5 application permissions. AccountAdministrator and AccountDeveloper require SAP IDP to be configured as identity provider. In case a custom IDP is configured, you can manually create these roles in the corresponding account.

By default, every permission required to access a protected resource of an application is granted to members of the AccountDeveloper role. As long as no other role is assigned to the permission, only account members with the Developer or Administrator role have access to the protected resource. This is also true for the default permission NonActiveApplicationPermission, which is required to access a non-active version of an HTML5 application.

SAP Web Ide - Git Issue - Push request Failed: not authorized

Hi,

We are starting to use SAP Web IDE (1.19) (Web IDE on HCP Trial) to develop some basic CVOM visualization extensions. One of great things of using SAP WebIde instead of old Lumira VizPacker tool is the possibility to version code using integrationg with github repositories.

We have followed the steps described on documentation (docs links) by placing Repository info (URL, host, user) to clone repository

git-1.jpg

After click on OK the content of repository (initially empty) is copied into SAP WebIde but following error message appears. Error persists each time we try to push any content on the repository

Push requested failed:  Repository URL: not authorized

git-2.jpg

What does message error means? Does it exist some restriction on using github on https on SAP WEB IDe on HCP trial? I don;t think so but I have no idea about what more could be wrong....

Thx

Implement a user search on HCP

$

Hi,

I am trying to implement a people(user) search within an HCP Java Service. So essentially, I want to lookup user information such as first name, last name and email for a given user ID (not my own user, but others).

I tried using code like this:

  InitialContext ctx

ctx = new InitialContext();

  UserProvider userProvider = null

  userProvider = (UserProvider) ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/user/Provider");

  User user = userProvider.getUser(userId);

This works fine for my own user which is logged in, but other users are not found this way.

Is there any way one can implement a user lookup ? Is this even provided from a security perspective ?

Thanks,

Best regards,

Stefan

HCP - multitenant application - how to fetch list of accounts subscribing

$

Hello All,

I am developing a multitenant Java application which would be hosted in one provider acoount and multiple accounts would be subscribing to this java application. My requirement is to find the list of accounts subscribing to my java application.

There is a console client command : list-subscribed-accounts to fetch this information but I want to fetch this information programmatically within my java application.

I have checked the com.sap.cloud.account api as well but could not find anything that serves this requirement. Is there any other API ?

Thanks,

Karthik

Could not establish SSL tunnel connection to HCP trial

Hi experts,

I tried to install SAP HANA Cloud Connector in our development system. However, in initial configuration step, I faced a following error regarding proxy authentication.

#Error when checking connectivity by sending HEAD request to https://connectivitycertsigning.hanatrial.ondemand.com --> java.io.IOException: Unable to tunnel through proxy. Proxy returns "HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required"|

I have already confirmed that our proxy setting itself is correct (same as web browser setting).

At first, I suspected that our firewall setting is wrong and asked network team to investigate the proxy log. However they told me "The log indicates this

communication didn't have any user credential. It seems that the user credential is not passed properly".

Does anyone know the cause of above issue?

Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Taichi Kameyama

There is no further detail mentioned about the error other than the text mentioned above in Bold.

Any idea what could be wrong here?

Hi everyone,

maybe some of you already know: we recently ran the repeat of the openSAP course Extending SAP Products with SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Between November 3rd 2015 and December 22nd 2015 over 3000 people enrolled to this course and got an overview on how they can leverage the SAP HANA Cloud Platform to extend SAP products.

With this blog post I want to thank all of the students for their participation and feedback and want to share the videos of the course. A course guide for the course, which links to the week guides, is also available here.

Direct access to the videos

First of all I'd like to encourage you to use the materials at the openSAP page for this courseas it not only provides the videos and the slides, but also all the discussion threads with a lot of questions and answers that popped-up during the course.

The following list is meant for those of you who want to have a quick check of the videos to remember how to accomplish a specific task with the platform.
